Leon Bridges's "Light the Way" is a funk-soul single built on the proposition that persuasion sounds better when it swings. Where Bridges has elsewhere leaned into slow-burn tenderness, here he drives hard — a punchy rhythm section, a clean electric guitar working a funky staccato pattern, and a choir of male backing vocals that turn a simple call-and-response into something almost liturgical.
